The Rich Initiative
“The gold standard of safe, reliable hero work. Probably.”
Overview
The Rich Initiative is the sponsored adventuring party funded and micromanaged by Richie Jr.. It exists primarily to be a foil to M3: better dressed, worse equipped in the ways that matter, loudly branded, and frequently embarrassed by its own spectacle.
Members wear matching tabards. They arrive synchronized. They have scripted catchphrases. They also sometimes forget to bring rope.
Sponsorship and Resources
All funding flows from Richland Richholdings Conglomerate through Richie Jr.’s discretionary youth development budget.
- Pre-approved vendor gear lists
- Marketing assistants for posters and public events
- Priority booking on Guild boards via early filing fees
- Hazard bonuses and clean-up stipends to city watch for post-quest optics
Tactics
- Targets low-risk, high-visibility contracts that photograph well
- Stages before-and-after documentation for every quest
- Receives detailed briefings, route maps, synchronized arrival times, and branded entry poses
- When things go wrong: doubles the budget, calls it a pivot
History
Richie Jr. founded The Rich Initiative shortly after gaining access to the RRC discretionary budget. He saw M3 forming under Mayor Mayor’s patronage and decided he needed a competing venture. He hired adventurers, outfitted them in matching tabards, assigned them a brand consultant, and filed early on every Guild board in Solen.
The team has been operational for a short period. They have completed several low-risk, high-visibility contracts. Public opinion is mixed: the production value is impressive, but the actual results tend to underwhelm once the smoke clears.
Goals
- Outperform M3 on every public metric: contracts completed, reputation score, crowd approval
- Secure top billing on the Adventurer’s Guild boards through aggressive early filing and premium fees
- Earn Rich Sr.’s approval (this is Richie Jr.’s personal motivation driving everything)
- Establish The Rich Initiative as a continental brand, with sponsorship deals and merchandise
Story Role
- Primary rival to M3 in Solen contract circuits
- Source of escalating comedic tension as the campaign progresses
Connections
- Richie Jr.: founder, sponsor, and de facto director of all operations
- M3: primary competition and comparison point in public esteem
- Adventurer’s Guild (Solen Branch): main contract registry they compete over
- Mayor Mayor: the patron standard Richie is trying to surpass
